Overview

Countryside Montessori follows the Montessori philosophy. The Montessori Method was established over 100 years ago in Italy by Dr. Maria Montessori who had a fine ability to observe children and studied their learning processes which evolved into a unique and alternative method of education. An education where children of different age groups and learning styles are joined together in a supportive community, where correcting is done in a positive way, and movement is always present.

Basic Facts:

The lead teacher of each of our classrooms holds an Accredited Montessori degree.

There are two types of classrooms here at CMS:  two toddler classrooms (ages 18 months to 3 years) and two primary classrooms (ages: 3 years to 6 years old)

The Primary classroom topics are divided into different areas:

Practical Life: Here the child practices everyday activities such as zippering to develop fine motor skills.

Sensorial: Here you will find activities that perfect the different senses such as grading cubes.

Mathematics: This includes hands-on number activities such as bead counting.

Language: Activities here increase vocabulary and practice writing and reading.

Geography: Here you will find Earth science activities and wooden puzzle maps.

Science: This includes study of parts of the body, animals and life cycle of the tree.

Art: Skills are practiced to perfect the hand for writing.

Music: Children listen to composers, sing and play instruments.
